Copper City Rodeo is a hand-built, stoneware vessel decorated
with a cowgirl and horse in different configurations, a
playfully Western version of the Autio’s mythic imagery
of women and animals. The title is a reference to Butte,
the artist’s hometown, where his father worked in
the mines and his mother ran a boarding house.
