Top of the World is “visual jazz,” played for
the eye and mind with marks on paper, rather than musical
notes. The drawing—which utilizes both abstractions
and recognizable objects—blends references to the
western landscape with an urban density of impressions
and visual signals. Bits of color heighten the visual impact
without describing real objects.
