Montana Workers–Mining, Ranching, and Building was commissioned by the building’s architect, Lewy Evans. It is made of hand-blown glass tiles—called tesserae—imported from Italy. The mosaic was actually constructed on plywood and then set into the wall as a unit. It is accompanied by a quote from Abraham Lincoln which reads: “As I Would Not Be a Slave, So I Would Not Be a Master.”
