Lewis and Clark Meeting Indians at Ross' Hole

The painting behind the speakers' desk in the House Chambers was painted by Charles M. Russell. The painting is oil on canvas and is 12' x 25 1/2' in size. It depicts the meeting of Lewis and Clark with the Flathead Indians in 1805 at Ross's Hole near Missoula. The painting has been valued by the art conservator at $1,000,000.

Painted in 1912, this oil on canvas painting measures 140" x 296".
