Under the Civil Works Administration, work is begun
on granite stairs at north entrance to capitol; a drive
through is thereby created at ground level; work is
abandoned when C.W.A. is discontinued by the federal
government; other extensive repairs and renovations
are also interrupted.

Capitol interior is painted, using W.P.A. labor, and
probably using a design developed by Otto Huber of Great
Falls under an earlier C.W.A. program.
